Responsibilities

As a museum coordinator with us, you will work with our visitor services. Visitor services is an internal and external service function that supports all operations at Karlsgatan 2. You are the first person our visitors meet, which means that hospitality and reception are the most important parts of your job. You need to stay updated on the museum's exhibitions and the activities taking place in the building to inform about Karlsgatan 2 and maintain a high level of hospitality. Hospitality means being active and available to visitors in the exhibition halls, as well as monitoring objects and artworks.

You will also work at the reception where you answer questions, receive incoming calls and forward them to the relevant departments, as well as coordinate room bookings for external and internal actors. During program activities and events, you will assist with furniture arrangements and some technical expertise. The position also includes responsibility for administration and purchasing of goods for the museum shop.

About the workplace

The Culture and Non-Profit Sector has three units: Västmanlands läns museum, Cultural Development, and Cultural Services. Approximately 55 employees work in the organization. The Cultural Services unit, which includes the museum coordinator position, creates conditions for and supports the Culture and Non-Profit Sector and the activities at Karlsgatan 2 and Westmanna Arvet in Hallstahammar. The unit has overall responsibility for hospitality, administration, communication, museum technology, property and security issues, as well as maintenance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a completed high school education. If you have a relevant university degree in art, cultural heritage, or humanities, that is advantageous. To be considered for the position, you should have previous experience in service and reception, preferably within a museum or other public activities such as concert halls, hotels, or conferences. It is a merit if you have experience working with conferences, events, and speaking in front of groups. We see that you have previously worked in retail and have cash handling experience. If you have also been responsible for purchasing goods, that is a merit. In addition to being able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, we expect you to communicate in English when needed. You have good digital skills, where you can easily familiarize yourself with different systems and use them in your daily work.
